Brammer is committed to helping their employees develop the skills and competencies
they require to enable them to perform to the highest possible standards in their
job role. This commitment is reflected in our 3 main training and development
initiatives.
We provide all of our new starters with a comprehensive induction programme designed
to ensure all new employees receive a consistent and comprehensive introduction
to the company.
The programme consists of an initial 1-week training programme at our National Distribution
Centre. During this first week you will receive a comprehensive overview of the
company including our value proposition, who our customers are, the products and
services we offer and who our key competitors are. In addition there are specific
modules covering world-class customer service, managing for profit, telephone skills
and product training.
The aim of the induction programme is to ensure that all new employees gain an initial
level of knowledge that enables them to make a positive contribution to the company
within a relatively
short period of time.
But this induction programme is just the start.
Through our parent company Brammer plc we have invested in the development of a
comprehensive e-learning programme which provides employees with the product knowledge
they need to successfully sell our comprehensive range of MRO products. This programme
can be accessed online over the internet and provides employees with a flexible
approach to developing their skills which they can easily integrate with their normal
working routines.
This e-learning package is further supported by a wide range of internal training
courses held at our dedicated training facilities at both the National Distribution
Centre and our administration centre in Manchester. These courses provide extensive
training in a wide range of key areas including IT skills, management development
and technical knowledge.
Many of our world-class manufacturing partners also provide Brammer with direct
access to their own training programmes and facilities, further increasing the scope
for our employees to acquire expert product training.
Where it is appropriate to the role employees will also be sponsored to study for
formal professional qualifications in areas such as accountancy, purchasing and
marketing or gain vocational qualifications accredited to NVQ standards.
Finally but just as importantly on-the-job coaching from experienced managers within
the business plays an important part in supporting the formal training programmes.
All employees receive annual appraisals as part of a structured review process with
their managers, including the identification of personal development needs.
This ensures that the training and development of our employees is an on-going process
that is there to support the development of their full potential throughout their
careers with Brammer.
